Application can be made in person by one or both parties in the Clerk of the District Court office. There is a three day waiting period from application date to date marriage license can be picked up. The cost of the license is $80.00 and is paid for when the license is issued. The fee must be paid in CASH ONLY. After the ceremony, the original license is returned to the Clerk of the District Court and then forwarded to the Kansas Department of Health and Vital Statistics. A certified copy of a marriage license can be obtained at the Clerk of the District Court office for $1.50. Dates of Birth of Groom and Bride Social Security or Drivers License Number of Groom and Bride Blood tests are not required in the State of Kansas. The license is only valid in the State of Kansas. The license itself will expire after six months from the issue date. The witnesses need to be 18 years of age. In Neosho County, the application may be done at either Chanute or Erie but licenses are only issued in the Erie office.
